MALAYSIA: PM NAJIB OFFERS CONDOLENCES TO VICTIMS OF CHINA’S SICHUAN QUAKE

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia– Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak yesterday conveyed his condolences to the government of People’s Republic of China and the victims of the strong earthquake that struck Sichuan, Tuesday.

“Our condolences to the government and the people of China, especially those affected by the Sichuan earthquake,” said Najib in his latest tweet, last night.

International media reported that at least 19 people were killed and 247 injured in the powerful 7.0 magnitude earthquake.

The earthquake jolted Jiuzhaigou County at 9.19 pm Tuesday (Beijing Time), and the epicentre was monitored at 33.2 degrees north latitude and 103.82 degrees east longitude. The quake struck at a depth of 20 km, according to the China Earthquake Networks Centre (CENC).

Jiuzhaigou, or Jiuzhai Valley, is a national park known for spectacular waterfalls and karst formations.
