FOREIGN MINISTRY CONFIRMS NO MALAYSIAN AFFECTED BY TYPHOON HATO

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — The foreign ministry has confirmed that no Malaysian was involved in Typhoon Hato which struck Hong Kong and Macau Wednesday.

In a statement yesterday, it said it would continue to monitor the situation and keep in close contact with the authorities to receive the latest information and updates.

According to the ministry, Malaysian citizens requiring consular assistance should contact the Consulate General of Malaysia in Hong Kong at Level 24, Malaysia Building, 47-50 Gloucester Road, Wanchai or call (852) 2821 0800, (852) 6900 6390 (for Emergency cases) or email mwhongkong@kln.gov.my

The statement said as of 3pm Wednesday, eight people were reported dead in Macau due to the disaster classified as Typhoon 10 – the most severe typhoon warning.
