MALAYSIA: POLICE DETAIN WOMAN IN FRAUDULENT S.KOREA TOUR PACKAGE
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Police yesterday arrested a woman suspected of involvement in a syndicate for fraudulent tour packages to South Korea.
Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said the 36-year-old suspect was detained when she surrendered herself upon arriving at the district police headquarters’ Criminal Investigation Department with her husband.
“The suspect will be brought to Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court today for remand application and detained under Section 420 of the Penal Code for fraud,” he told Bernama.
Wednesday, 23 victims including artistes and drama producers lodged police reports claiming to have been duped into paying more than RM150,000 for the tour packages.
