OIC Chief Condemns Terrorist Attacks in Sinai (allAfrica.com)

Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Madani strongly condemned recent terrorist attacks in Sinai, causing the death and injury of army and police personnel and civilians, Malaysian Pernama news agency reported.

Madani, who is currently visiting Malaysia, also pledged OIC’s support for Egypt in all that would achieve its security and stability.

On Yemen, Madani has urged the OIC’s member states and civil society organizations to provide humanitarian assistance to the Yemeni people.

He added that the OIC’s General Secretariat had consulted several civil society bodies and humanitarian organizations for assistance, especially medical, food and humanitarian aid to enable the Yemeni people to overcome the worsening political and security crisis.

Madani added “The General Secretariat is also consulting with United Nations agencies and the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent to take urgent steps to alleviate the plight of the Yemeni people and to consider the steps to be taken in the medium term”.
