Monarch Consented to Attend 26th ASEAN Summit Retreat (BruDirect (Brunei))

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to attend the 26th ASEAN Summit Retreat and the closing ceremony of the 26th ASEAN Summit held at the Langkawi International Convention Centre. His Majesty firstly consented to attend the 26th ASEAN Summit Retreat.

Upon arriving, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was welcomed by His Excellency Dato’ Kamilan Maksom, Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia; and Yang Berbahagia Datuk Wan Hamidah binti Wan Ibrahim, Chief of Ceremony and Conference Secretariat.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was then led to the Grand Ballroom 1B and greeted by Yang Amat Berhormat Dato Laila Utama Dato’ Sri Mohamad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia and Chairman of 26th ASEAN Summit. His Majesty later consented to join other Heads of State and Government of ASEAN to proceed to the Grand Ballroom 2 for the Retreat.

At the beginning of the 26th ASEAN Summit Retreat, Yang Amat Berhormat Dato Laila Utama Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia as the Chairman of 26th ASEAN Summit, in his speech welcomed the ASEAN Heads of State and Government present at the Retreat.

During the ASEAN Summit Retreat, leaders of ASEAN discussed matters related to ASEAN and exchanged views on regional and international matters of mutual concerns.

At the end of the Retreat, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to join other ASEAN Heads of State and Government for a group photo session.

Accompanying His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to the Retreat were Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, the Second Minister of Finance at the Prime Minister’s Office; and Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
