PUC welcomes relief committee for Rohingya Muslims (The Balochistan Times (Pakistan))

Pakistan Ulema Council has welcomed the establishment of relief committee for Rohingya Muslims by Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif.

Addressing a meeting of “Ilm-o-Aman Foundation” office bearers here on Monday, PUC central chairman Hafiz Mohammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi urged the United Nations and the OIC to break their silence on genocide of Rohingya Muslims of Myanmar as efforts against terrorism and extremism would be affected.

He said that 25,000 Burmese Muslims who were trapped in open sea were looking towards other Muslim countries especially Pakistan. The ulema were struggling for the provision of basic necessities including dress, food and medical facilities to Burmese Muslims, he said.

Criticising the UN, western and Muslim countries and human right organisations, he said why they were ignoring human rights violations in Myanmar?

He said that Pakistani nation was feeling anxiety over the plight of Rohingya Muslims so the Prime Minister should take an urgent step to help them by contacting Khadam al Harmain shareefain, Indonesia, Malaysia and other Muslim countries.
