Mitigating Security Threats with SMO (BruDirect (Brunei))

Posted on August 29, 2015 by admin

The recently launched Security Management Operation Course is hoped to result in effective security management policies to address security threats that society continues to confront.

Speaking at the opening of the course last Monday, Pehin Datu Paduka Raja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Haji Shari bin Ahmad, Director of EDS Mobility Technology Sdn Bhd, pointed out that though security is the most important aspect of investment and development, it is still being neglected due to lack of training and knowledge.

“Security is, at the same time, one of the most hazardous sectors in both developing and industrialised countries,” he said, noting that research has shown that the increasing rate of crime does affect the business industry whilst at the same time risking investors and the public as a whole,” he said.

Among the topics presented during the course, which also saw the delivery of a keynote address by Dato’ Sri Haji Mustapa bin Haji Ali, President of the Asian Professional Security Association from Malaysia, included security and pillars of company security, security leadership and management, security threats, crime prevention, security risk analysis, security emergency planning, security survey and audit with practical exercises to assess the understanding and coordination of participants.

The course, attended by the likes of Brunei’s enforcement agencies, security managers, team leaders and human resource officers, carries the theme ‘Building Effective Security Management Skills for a More Secured Community’ and organised by EDS Mobility Technology featured speakers from Asian Professional Security Association from Malaysia and the Philippines.
