OPENING CEREMONY OF THE 2017 MALAYSIAN FOOD AND CULTURAL FESTIVAL

Consul General officiated the Opening Ceremony of the 2017 Malaysian Food and Cultural Festival on 17 May 2017 at Shangri-La Hotel Xi’an.

The 2017 Malaysian Food and Cultural Festival was hosted by the Shangri-La Hotel Xi’an with the support of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Xi’an, Tourism Malaysia, State Government of Terengganu and AirAsia X Berhad.

Amongst the attendees at the Festival were the Consul General of the Republic of Korea, Deputy Consul-General of the Royal Thai Consulate General, representatives from the Foreign Affairs Office of Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government, Xi’an Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Xi’an Municipal People’s Government, Shaanxi Provincial Foreign Affairs Service Center, Shaanxi Provincial Department of Commerce, Shaanxi Provincial Tourism Administration, local business community and Malaysian expatriate community in Xi’an, including HBS and families.

The Food Festival, which was held from 18 to 25 May 2017, highlighted the richness and vibrant heritage of Malaysia culinary and cultural. It offered guests the opportunity to taste the most authentic Malaysian cuisines, such as the perennial favourite satay, char kway teow, rojak, curry laksa, sambal udang, mee goreng, roti canai and many more. Guests were also entertained by the colourful traditional dances performed by the cultural troupe from Terengganu.
