Opening of Malaysia Pavilion at the Astana EXPO 2017, 10 June 2017

Malaysia Pavilion at the Astana EXPO 2017 has been officially launched and officiated by YB Datuk Seri Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili, Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) together with the Astana EXPO 2017 Commissioner, His Excellency Mr. Rapil Zhoshybayev on Saturday, 10 June 2017 at 1100 hours. Also present were the Ambassador of Malaysia; Datuk Seri Ir. Zaini Ujang, Secretary General of KeTTHA as the Commissioner of Malaysia Pavilion; Tan Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui; Datuk Loo Took Gee, Deputy Commissioner of Malaysia Pavilion; as well as other VIPs from the various Government departments and the sponsors for the Malaysia Pavilion.

Through its participation at Astana Expo 2017, Malaysia hopes to seal deals on trade and investment worth RM1 billion. Malaysia has an unprecedented opportunity over the next three months to prove to the world that green growth is in its nature, and that the best way to create a green future is with Malaysia.

Sandwiched between two biggest participating countries, China and India, Malaysia Pavilion spans about 727 square meters within the 25-hectare futuristic EXPO site in Astana. Malaysia Pavilion in the Astana Expo 2017 flaunts its visitors with a walk through the 3-D tropical rainforest, information about Malaysia’s energy mix and the move towards greater use of renewable energy, natural attractions, unique cultural performances, demonstration of cultural items as well as authentic and sumptuous cuisines served at Malaysia cafe.

Malaysia also hosted an Iftar session with the Grand Mufti at Khazret Sultan Mosque (the largest mosque in Central Asia) and the Kazakh worshippers, in conjunction with Astana Expo 2017 on the same day.
