SEA GAMES: MALAYSIA WINS MORE GOLD FRIDAY

KUALA LUMPUR- Malaysia’s gold rush continues as Mohd Juwaidi Mazuki and Fatin Nurfatehah Mat Salleh delivered the gold through the compound mixed team archery event.

Earlier Kevin Yeap & Heidi Gan bag two gold for Malaysia in the men’s and women’s 10km open water swimming.

Malaysia which already has a 4 gold medal tally since Thursday – now has 7 total.

The Malaysian duo outscored Myanmar’s Aung Ngeain-Ye Min Swe 152-142 to defend the gold they won in Singapore two years ago.

Min Swe blundered in his fifth shot and hit the wrong target, paving way for the home side to clinch a comfortable victory.

Juwaidi-Fatin, who were part of the victorious men’s and women’s teams on Thursday, had earlier defeated Singapore 155-149 and Vietnam 154-152 en route to the final.

With the third gold in the bag, the national compound team have met their three-gold target for the Games.

Juwaidi and Fatin were also the silver and bronze medallists in their respective individual events on Wednesday.

There will be five more archery gold up for grabs in the recurve discipline which starts on Sunday, August 20.

The 27th KL SEA GAMES official opens on Saturday, Aug 19.
