MALAYSIA TO HOST INAUGURAL KHAYR UMMAH CONFERENCE ON NOV 26 – 27

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Malaysia will be hosting the inaugural Khayr Ummah Conference (KUC) 2017 scheduled to be held here on Nov 26 and 27.

Special Officer of the Prime Minister Advisory Office Dr Fathul Bari Mat Jahaya said the conference, themed The Manhaj of the Ahlu As-Sunnah Unites ASEAN would provide a meeting and introductory platform among Islamic scholars in the Southeast Asian region to establish close ties and networking for the long run.

The KUC 2017 looks to motivate the spirit of cooperation and solidarity between organisations and individual Islamic scholars in the Southeast Asian region in terms of scholarship, education, socio-economic, security and welfare, he said in his speech at the soft launch of the KUC 2017 by Communications and Multimedia Minister Dr Salleh Said Keruak at Angkasapuri here yesterday.

Also present were Special Affairs Department (JASA) director-general Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi and Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Malaysia Syeikh Mahmud Husin Qottan.

KUC 2017 is jointly organised by Communications and Multimedia Ministry, JASA, Al-Khadeem Organisation of Malaysia and Malaysian Ilmuan Organisation (iLMU), while Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) is entrusted with the responsibility as the programme coordinator.

Apart from presentation of papers by scholars and distinguished thinkers from both local and international spheres, Fathul Bari said there would also be exhibitions by various agencies, institutions and departments, as well as non-governmental organisations and local companies that are directly involved in KUC 2017 during the two-day conference.
