Fatimah: E-Usahawan, E-Rezeki Programme Uplifts Living StandardFatimah: E-Usahawan, e-Rezeki programme uplifts living standard

SIBU: The people’s living standard can be improved through the E-Usahawan and e-Rezeki programme which also helps to develop human capital.

Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah stated this when officiating at the opening of e-Usahawan and e-Rezeki programme at Sibu Civic Centre yesterday.

She said the event was part of the government’s effort to create better understanding of digital economy and the opportunities it brings to the people.

We all know that producing successful entrepreneurs is not easy especially when majority of our people still cannot adapt and apply entrepreneurship culture in their daily lives, she said.

She added: Because of this, the government is collaborating with relevant agencies to increase awareness of the importance of entrepreneurship as an approach to improving their standard of living.

She advised the targeted group in this programme to find suitable approaches to ensure they could generate and improve their incomes.

She said the E-Usahawan and e-Rezeki programme is part of the ‘Kenyalang Digital Programme’ a collaboration between her ministry and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).

It is part of the government’s initiative to encourage people to venture into business and digital work.

Those registered under e-Usahawan will be given the knowledge and methods of digital business.

E-Rezeki, on the other hand, is a platform to provide opportunity for the targeted group to earn extra incomes through digital work.

The e-Usahawan and e-Rezeki programme started in September, she said.

Referring to her ministry’s record, Fatimah said the ‘Mikro 1Azam’ entrepreneurs in Sibu consisted of 160 women and 340 men.

Sibu is the fifth location to have e-Usahawan and e-Rezeki after the first four in Kuching, Sri Aman, Miri and Limbang, she said.

Though the government has always tried to ensure a better life for the people, it is up to the people themselves to create a better life, she added.

Present at the event were Ministry of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development permanent secretary Dr Saadiah Abdul Samat and director of Special Delivery Unit of the Prime Minister’s Office Fabian Bigar.
