MALAYSIA: SIX THAI FISHERMEN RESCUED, ONE STILL MISSING AFTER BOAT CAPSIZES

PASIR PUTEH, Kelantan state, Malaysia — Six Thai fishermen were rescued while another was reported missing after their boat capsized in Tok Bali here, yesterday.

Kelantan Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) director Nurul Hizam Zakaria said five of them were rescued by local fishermen passing by the area, while another was rescued by the MMEA.

“All of them aged between 20 and 62 are Thai citizens working with local deep sea boat operators,” he told reporters at the Tok Bali MMEA office here, yesterday.

Nurul Hizam said in the 1.15pm incident, the fishermen were on their way out to catch fish but had to turn back to Tok Bali after experiencing rough conditions at sea.
