MODERATE EARTHQUAKE HIT TIMOR REGION

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — A moderate 5.4 magnitude earthquake struck Timor Region, 79 kilometre Northwest Kupang, Indonesia at 7.52pm yesterday.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department in a statement issued here yesterday said the quake occurred 1,562 kilometre Southeast Sarikei, Sarawak, the closest location in Malaysia from the epicentre.

The quake, however, poses no tsunami threat.
