MALAYSIA: JAPANESE EMBASSY HOSTS EMPEROR AKIHITO’S 84TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia– The bilateral relations between Malaysia and Japan have expanded steadily and substantially since the establishment of diplomatic relations 60 years ago, said Japan’s Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Makio Miyagawa.

He said the diplomatic relations established on Aug 31, 1957, the day Malaysia declared its independence, had proven to be fruitful not only for the two nations’ political ties but also economic relations.

“Our country is now collaborating closely with Malaysian entrepreneurs to develop and enrich business opportunities through technology transfer and human capital development.

“We have always been looking for opportunities to enhance the strategic partnership and continue the close and long lasting friendship,” he said at Japan Emperor’s 84th Birthday celebration reception at the embassy, here last night.

About 300 guests attended the celebration of the birthday of Emperor Akihito, the 125th emperor of Japan, whose birthday falls on Dec 23.

Guests were treated to the finest Japanese food and beverages as well as Halal Japanese beef which has been granted access to the Malaysian market since October.
