CM: State Govt To Implement All Policies Made Last Year
KUCHING: The new year will see a full implementation of policies made by the state government last year.
According to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, policies concerning the digital economy and infrastructure upgrade would be given attention to drive the state towards modernisation.
We will also look into introducing policies concerning rural infrastructure upgrade. This is vital because we need to look into new measures for rural infrastructure works to progress systematically, said Abang Johari at the New Year Countdown in Kuching Waterfront on Sunday.
Abang Johari also said the government would look at economic policies beneficial to all Sarawakians.
The year 2018 is also a year where we will look at policies concerning youths and sports, for youths are valuable assets of the state.
We will look into how we can help them (youths) and their activities, and we will continue to build world-class sports arenas to produce world-class athletes, he added.
Saying 2018 is a significant year for Sarawak with its 55th year of independence, Abang Johari said successes and mistakes made in the past 55 years were important to chart the future direction of Sarawak.
We need to frame our policies as guidance for our objectives, and let us all work to ensure that we will be pragmatic in developing new ideas for Sarawak, he said.
Abang Johari also launched a book entitled ‘Colourful Icons of Sarawak’ and later joined thousands of Sarawakians for the New Year Countdown.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah, state ministers and assemblypersons and government officials were also present.
