Good Response To Ministry’s Programme

SARIKEI: There was an overwhelming response from local folk on Sunday to the People’s Outreach Sale (Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat) programme organised by the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) here.

A huge crowd thronged the stalls set up in front of Doremon Supermarket to buy a total of 30 types of items, mainly daily necessities, being offered at subsidised prices.

The items include fish, vegetables, processed food, controlled items such as sugar, flour and cooking oil, as well as chicken and eggs.

A similar event was also held at GMark Supermarket in Bintangor yesterday.

The People’s Outreach Sale programme aims to lighten the burden of the people, particularly the low income group, in all 222 parliamentary areas nationwide.

The government has allocated a total of RM120 million to subsidise the 30 items under the six-month programme.

KPDNKK head of enforcement Dato Mohd Roslan Muhayiddin, political secretary to the chief minister Teng Ung Woo, and other KPDNKK senior officers were among those present to observe the programme in progress.
