Adopt Green Technology For More Eco-Friendly Buildings – Fadillah

KUALA LUMPUR: The country’s construction industry needs to adopt the latest green technology to create more eco-friendly buildings.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof thus encouraged the construction of high-rise buildings, including government-owned buildings, to apply and adopt the green concept.

He said Menara Kementerian Kerja Raya at Jalan Salahudin here is an example of a building that has adopted the green technology.

This building has received Platinum and Malaysian Carbon Reduction and Environment Sustainability Tool (MyCREST) awards,’ Fadillah said of the building.

He added that the 35-storey tower was built with Industrialised Building System (IBS), whereby the components are manufactured in a controlled environment using green technology in view of energy efficiency and environmental-friendly materials.

He said this after receiving a courtesy call from the Journalists Association of Kuching Division(KDJA) delegation led by its chairwoman Jacqueline Atiqah David yesterday.

The visit was part of KDJA’s four-day programme here, which includes a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on Thursday.
