WORKING VISIT OF THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF MALAYSIA, DATO’ SRI ANIFAH AMAN TO KUWAIT CITY, KUWAIT, 13 FEBRUARY 2018
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Anifah Aman will lead a delegation to the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Coalition against ISIS/Da’esh in Kuwait City on 13 February 2018. He will be accompanied by officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Global Coalition against ISIS/Da’esh was formed in September 2014 based on the global concern over Da’esh and the threat it poses to international peace and security. The upcoming Ministerial Meeting in Kuwait will be its fourth edition that gathers all its 74 Partners, which illustrates the Global Coalition’s unequivocal commitment to tackling Da’esh on all fronts as well as to dismantling its networks and countering its worldwide ambitions.
The Meeting, which will be hosted by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, His Excellency Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah aims to intensify the campaign to defeat Da’esh. It also seeks to outline the way forward for the Global Coalition and its relevance following the liberation of the Da’esh stronghold in Iraq and Syria.
During the Meeting, the Foreign Minister will speak on the current concerns posed by Da’esh from the national and regional perspectives, as well as the challenges and best practices in countering terrorism and violent extremism. He will also advocate Malaysia’s concept of moderation or wasatiyyah, which is fundamentally crucial in the efforts to counter the heinous and abhorrent acts of violence and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
The participation of the Foreign Minister at the Ministerial Meeting of Global Coalition against ISIS/Da’esh reaffirms Malaysia’s resolute support of the Global Coalition’s efforts to combat terrorism and violent extremism.
