GEORGE TOWN, Penang state, Malaysia The Penang International Food Festival 2018 (PIFF 2018) will be back in its second year, with 16 days of mouth-watering food and drinks by the state’s best hawkers, vendors, cafes and restaurants.

Scheduled to be held from April 14 to 29, its major events will be staged at Lebuh Pantai, Jalan Kelawai and Batu Kawan to celebrate Penang’s reputation as Malaysia’s food capital.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said there were top three events to look forward to at PIFF 2018 that represented different aspects of Penang’s culinary landscape such as ‘Street Food Festival’, ‘Taste of Penang’ and ‘Food Truck Invasion’.

He said ‘Street Food Festival’ was a tribute to Penang’s extraordinary hawkers and would feature the most celebrated street food delights.

‘Taste of Penang’ will focus on Penang’s modern food scene with the finest cafes and restaurants exhibiting their signature dishes.

The ‘Food Truck Invasion’ will feature 150 food trucks heading to Batu Kawan for the world’s largest food truck rally, he told a press conference here yesterday.

In addition to the three main themed events, there will also be a series of pocket events in the form of mini festivals and specialty dining experience at various locations throughout the festival.
