MALAYSIA: CENTRAL BANK GOVERNOR SUBMITS RESIGNATION LETTER TODAY

PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) Governor Muhammad Ibrahim has submitted his resignation letter, said Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.(BNM is Malaysia’s central bank)

He said however the government had not decided on his successor as the replacement needed the approval from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (Malaysia’s King) Sultan Muhammad V.

“We will not announce it today,” he said at the press conference after attending the cabinet meeting here today.

Muhammad was appointed as BNM Governor on May 1, 2016, replacing Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz. He is the eighth Governor.
