MALAYSIA: AFGHAN MAN FINED RM1,000 FOR OUTRAGING MODESTY OF WOMAN
KUALA LUMPUR, An Afghanistan man was fined RM1,000, in default three month’s imprisonment, by the Magistrate’s Court here today, after he pleaded guilty to outraging the modesty of a woman in a bus last week.
Asadullah Safari, 32, a cleaner, was charged with using criminal force with the intention to outrage the modesty of the 21yearold victim, while travelling in a bus to Dang Wangi on July 8 at 6pm.
The charge framed under Section 354 of the Penal Code carries a maximum jail term of 10 years or a fine or whipping or any two of the punishments, if convicted.
Earlier, the accused who was represented by counsel K.Syama Sundar, appealed for a lighter sentence but deputy public prosecutor Nur Nabila Kamarudin urged the court to impose a deterrent sentence
