Keningau Diamond to be registered as Malaysia’s latest national pineapple

KENINGAU, The ‘Keningau Diamond’ will be soon be registered as the country’s latest pineapple species, said secretary-general of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Datuk Mohd Sallehhudin Hassan.

Developed by well-known entrepreneur Adjunct Professor Datuk Yap Yun Fook at Ladang Bomboi Keningau here, the ‘Keningau Diamond’ is the latest national pineapple species after AC1 Moris, AC2 Sarawak, AC3 Gandul, AC4 Maspine, AC5 Josapine, AC6 Yankee, AC7 Moris Gajah, AC8 N36 dan AC9 MD2.

It will be registered, and it is known as ‘Keningau Daimond’ because it was developed here (Keningau). This variety will be taken beyond Sabah, to Peninsular Malaysia, and internationally, he told Bernama here today.
