Pasir Gudang residents relieves the Sungai Kim Kim pollution has improved

JOHOR BAHRU, Pasir Gudang residents are relieved with the cleaning up of the Sungai Kim Kim which was contaminated with chemical waste, but, they want the government to continue on cleaning and monitoring the river to ensure such incidents do not recur.

A Kampung Bukit Pulai resident, Zaharah Yahya, 45, said since the cleaning was carried out, she no longer smelled the strong chemical odour around her house while the previously dark coloured water of the river was no longer obvious.

The housewife said she was very worried if the residue of the chemical waste at Sungai Kim Kim was still there and thus, cleaning work should continue to ensure there were no more residues of the chemicals.
