Sime Darby Oils launches 10-episode web series

KUALA LUMPUR, Sime Darby Oils Sdn Bhd and Malaysia’s favourite brand, Alif cooking oil today launched its 10-episode web series called Goreng atau Gagal to add to the festivities of Ramadan.

Sime Darby Oils managing director Mohd Haris Mohd Arshad said the series was Alif’s attempt to create a different kind of content for its social media followers and fans.

As a creative way to engage with its followers, Alif ran a survey on Facebook page asking for suggestions on ingredients or items that they would like to fry and a chef will then attempt to fry the best and most unique suggestion in the programme using Alif cooking oil.

This is also to educate its audience on the art of frying. Amongst the food items suggested are durian, dodol, watermelon, lemang and more, he said in his speech at the iftar (breaking of fast) gathering with Alif here today.

Hosted by celebrity chef Nik Michael Imran and actress/TV host Yasmin Hani Richardson, the web series had premiered on May 10, 2019, and is scheduled to be shown at 10 am every Friday on Alif’s Facebook page.

The event tonight also witnessed the launch of Alif’s exclusive 5.4kg packaging, which was first introduced last year with overwhelming response.

This special packaging is unique to Alif which means there are no other brands in the market that have ever released a similar product. Maintaining its five kg pricing for the 5.4kg packaging, it is a gift from Alif to all its loyal customers and will be available throughout the months of Ramadan and Syawal, he said.

Sime Darby Oils is a unit of Sime Darby Plantation Bhd which undertakes the latter’s entire downstream division, with a business that spans across 14 countries worldwide, involving manufacturing as well as sales and marketing of oils and fats products, palm oil-based biodiesel, nutraceuticals, and other derivatives.
