Police arrest four suspects from three states in drug bust

KOTA BHARU, The police detained four suspects originating from three states and seized RM8,000 in drugs during a raid at a house in Padang Bongor early today.

Kota Bharu District Police deputy chief Supt Noor Halim Nordin said all the suspects, which included a woman, were aged between 26 and 36.

“In (the operation codenamed) Op Tapin, carried out from 5 pm yesterday and to 3 am today, we conducted raids based on information from the public.

“The inspection revealed that there were four individuals in the house with some drugs as well. Further investigation found that all the suspects came from Kelantan, Kedah and Terengganu,” he told reporters during a press conference at the Kota Bharu Police headquarters here today.

Noor Halim said further checks also revealed that one of the suspects had a drug-related criminal record in 2013, while two others tested positive for methamphetamine.

“We also seized a Honda EX-5 motorcycle and a Perodua Viva car worth about RM21,000,” he said, adding all the suspects had been remanded for seven days from today.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 12 (2) of the same Act which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
