38 flood victims in Kampung Periuk evacuated

KUALA LUMPUR, June 11 (Bernama) – A total of 38 residents involving six families from Kampung Periuk here had to be evacuated to the temporary relief centre due to rising water in the affected area due to heavy rain since this evening.

Kuala Lumpur Civil Defence Force (APM) Operations Officer Captain Shahrul Kamar Mohd Johari said his department received distress calls through members who monitored the Kindergarten area at about 4.48 pm.

“A total of eight members rushed to the scene and found the water level at 0.75 meters.

“All the victims were evacuated to the Sultan Sulaiman Hall, Kampung Baru for a while,” he said when contacted.

Shahrul said as at 7pm, the area was still inundated in stagnant water.
