12 SMEs to export 125 containers of food to Saudi Arabia

KUALA LUMPUR, Twelve small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will export 125 containers of dry and frozen food as well as beverages to Saudi Arabia next year for 20 million Saudi riyal (RM1=SAR0.89).

The deal was inked via distributorship agreements and a memorandum of understanding between the 12 SMEs with The Synergy International Co (TSI).

The local food brands are Faiza, Tisha’s, Nani’s, MasterChef, Ain’s Treat, Thalia, Asia Best, Uncle Saba, Mascorn, Shoon Fatt, and Pops Malaya.

Through these agreements, we can ensure that Malaysian spices, roti parata, sauces, oats, murtabak, biscuits, papadoms, corn, chicken-based food and ice creams can now be enjoyed in the Gulf Cooperation Council, TSI executive director Ahmad Imran Zainul Abidin said in a statement.

He said the company has imported 23 containers of Malaysian products by SME manufacturers and top brands in the past one year.

Ahmad Imran added that the company hopes that the Malaysian government will fully support the Malaysian SMEs’ initiative to export their products to Saudi Arabia by providing them technical expertise and financial access.

Such support will enable the Malaysian SMEs to elevate the competitiveness and innovation of Malaysian food and beverages products in international markets, and Saudi Arabia in particular, he added.

TSI is an international diversified group of companies specialising in construction, engineering consultancy, agro-technology and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) distribution and retail outlets in Saudi Arabia.

Under its FMCG distribution and retail arm, TSI has established a popular food mart under the brand name of Asiana Grocer (previously known as Kedai Asia).

TSI has also established a solid distribution network covering several modern trade markets, namely Sarawat, Star Market, Lulu Hypermarket, Danube, Bin Dawood and Tamimi.
