Saham Sabah declares first interim income distribution for 2019 at 2.40 sen per unit

KOTA KINABALU, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal today announced the first interim income distribution of Saham Amanah Sabah (SAS) for this year at the rate of 2.40 per cent or 2.40 sen per unit from the gross income of RM36,017,587 as at Sept 6.

Mohd Shafie, who is also the state finance minister, said this constituted a 7.41 per cent return in income based on SAS net asset value on Jan 2 of RM0.3240 involving cash payment of RM29.552 million based on SAS units held by 1.231 million investors as at Sept 6.

“This is a good move and I’m confident of Saham Sabah’s ability to manage well, as well as its future. Despite confronting economic problems, Saham Sabah has managed to distribute income at the rate of 2.4 per cent.

“The amount is very satisfactory despite economic constraints in the local and foreign markets, while Saham Sabah’s ability to distribute the income is very encouraging,” he told reporters at the Sabah State Administrative Centre here.

Mohd Shafie said the interim income distribution would be paid to 50,264 investors, comprising 42,746 (85.04 per cent) individual investors, 7,317 (14.56 per cent) investors under the Hardcore Poor Housing Programme (PPRT), 151 (0.30 per cent) investors through bank loans and 50 (0.10 per cent) corporate investors.

He said since operational 25 years ago, SAS had distributed cash income 22 times involving payment of RM643.231 million or 90.57 sen per unit or 90.57 per cent, including distribution in the form of re-investment units at 0.40 sen per unit (0.40 per cent).
