PH Gem initiative offers training and technology skills for women

The Power House Wanita Gemilang (PH Gem) implemented by the Negeri Sembilan government is not only to train and equip women with skills but also make them technology savvy.

State Women’s Affairs, Family and Welfare Committee chairman Nicole Tan Lee Koon said PH Gem participants who are successful in doing business not only offer their services on the premises but their services could be booked through special applications to be created next year.

“For starters, we offer the services of a therapist among PH Gem participants. Those who want to get services like massage, makeup and so on only need to make a reservation using this app, and the therapist will respond to every booking.

“PH Gem not only trains women in skills but also exposes them to the latest technology so that they can remain competitive and stay up to date with the current technology,” she told reporters at the Seremban Parliamentary PH Gem Women Entrepreneurs’ Forum at Dataran Nilai here today.

In empowering women in the state, Tan said PH Gem participants will be gathered on a carnival-like platform to enable them to offer services or sell products and run their businesses.

“We will gather all women entrepreneurs and organise one carnival for each parliamentary constituency. We will start in the Seremban parliamentary seat and proceed to other constituencies in the state,” she said.

Since it was launched in January 2018, Tan said, 500 participants have been involved in the programme covering a wide range of areas including education, health, environment, economics and welfare.

It is estimated that 27,416 have been exposed to the PH Gem programme. We expect the number of participants to increase to over 1,000 next year, she said.
