JPJ Melaka Holding auction of seized vehicles on Sept 2

MELAKA The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Melaka will be auctioning off 154 vehicles including Japanese sedans and MPVs with a low starting bid of between RM8,000 and RM10,150.

JPJ state director, Muhammad Firdaus Shariff, said the auction at Kompleks JPJ in Bukit Katil will feature 100 cars, 47 motorcycles, four lorries and three vans, with vehicle licence renewal possible for 100 out of the total.

Each JPJ auction document costs RM100 (paid with cash) and will be available at the Melaka JPJ payment counter from Aug 17 – 28.

“Only bidders with this document can view the vehicles at the JPJ storage garage from Aug 24-25.

“We expect to reap up to RM1 million in revenue this time because last year we collected RM1.3 million from the auction of 75 vehicles,” Muhammad Firdaus said at a press conference today.

Among the vehicles up for auction are the Toyota Estima, Honda Stream, Toyota Wish, Toyota Vios and Subaru.

Bidders for the scrap vehicles (higher price) must have in hand the scrap material licence, he said.

Concerning the 70 per cent discount on fines being offered by JPJ from Aug 1 – 31, Muhammad Firdaus said that the JPJ Melaka fine collection as at Aug 12 was RM109,673.
