Traffic policeman hurt after being hit by car from behind

A traffic police officer from the Shah Alam District Police Headquarters (IPD) was injured after being hit by a car while on his way to a congested area at the Puncak Perdana roundabout here today.

Shah Alam District Police chief ACP Baharudin Mat Taib said that in the 8.10 am incident, the plain-clothed officer, who was riding a motorcycle, was nearing the roundabout when a gold-coloured Proton Wira car, bearing registration number WHQ 4088 and with two men inside, believed to be Indonesians, suddenly hit the victim from the back.

“The officer fell and the car sped off towards Puncak Alam. Before the incident, the victim had seen the car stopped by other traffic personnel in the area,” he said in a statement today

Baharuddin said the officer, who suffered leg injuries and body aches, was sent to the Shah Alam Hospital for treatment.

“We urge the owner (of the car) to come forward to help us. We also urge the public to cooperate and help us nab the suspects,” he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 186 and Section 307 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant from discharging his duty.
