Jalur Gemilang incident at police station unintentional – Kerian cops

–The incident in which the Jalur Gemilang was flown upside down at the Simpang Lima police station near Parit Buntar yesterday, which later went viral on social media, was done unintentionally.

Kerian district police chief Supt Mazuki Mat said the flag was hoisted by a policeman at about 6 am before his duty ended and was noticed by members of the public about an hour later.

“The work of hoisting the Jalur Gemilang, the Perak state flag and the police flag is done every day at 6 am before being lowered at 6 pm daily but the incident that happened yesterday was not intentional,” he said when contacted by Bernama here today.

He said that after being informed by a colleague about the mistake, the member involved returned to the police station to rectify the flag’s position.

Mazuki said the Simpang Lima police station chief had lodged a report on the incident yesterday afternoon. He asked netizens to stop viralling the image again.

“We have taken down the statements and conducted further investigations under Section 5 of the Emblems and Names Act 1963,” he added.
