The Sabah state government welcomes views from all parties including elected representatives from the opposition in a bid to spur development in the state, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.
For example, he said, the development efforts in Sandakan, the second-largest city in Sabah, required the attention of all quarters as there are only four leaders from the government bloc in the constituency.
“There are only four leaders from the government bloc in this area, therefore, we need the views of others and we need a proper plan so that Sandakan can be developed,” he told reporters after the swearing-in ceremony of 18 members of the Kinabatangan district council for the 2020/2022 session here today.
Bung Moktar said apart from boosting development within the state, safeguarding people’s welfare as well as restoring the economy were among the state government’s main agenda.
Meanwhile, he said the newly appointed council members who comprised grassroots leaders as well as professionals, should play a major role in helping the government with its development efforts.
