No mass beach activities on New Year’s Eve – Sabah Police

The people here have been advised not to participate in mass beach activities during the New Year’s Eve celebration tomorrow night to ensure their safety.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hazani Ghazali said the Malaysian Meteorological Department had issued a bad weather warning in Sabah waters from today until Saturday (Jan 2).

Besides this, he said public gatherings in open areas were also not allowed to curb the spread of COVID-19, and urged the public to comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs).

“Sabah Police with a strength of 260 monitoring teams including the General Operations Force (GOF) and the MPV Patrol Unit in each district will monitor and patrol throughout Sabah, especially in coastal areas.

“Any violation of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) SOPs will be dealt with, such as being compounded, arrested or ordered to disperse,” he said in a statement here today.
