Four villages near Kota Murudu receive food baskets

A total of 165 food baskets were distributed to residents in four villages, near here. The villagers had been stranded due to landslides following continuous rain that hit Sabah, including this district since last week.

The food aid was handed over by Datuk Wetrom Bahanda, Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, after Wetrom visited the four villages — Torintidon Village, Gontoi Village, Mahligai Village and Pampang Poring Village, today.

“The landslide caused the main road to be cut off over a distance of almost 300 metres,” said Wetrom, who is also the Bandau assemblyman, in a statement here.

In the meantime, Wetrom said, the state government will continue to look into the welfare of people affected by floods and landslides by ensuring there is adequate food supplies in these areas.

All parties are also urged to work together to channel aid to the affected groups, he added.
