RTM effective medium in supporting Melaka’s development efforts – Chief Minister

— The Melaka state government recognises Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) as an effective medium in disseminating news and information to assist the state’s development efforts.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali said in addition, RTM had also played a role in instilling unity among Malaysians, especially in Melaka and during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“As the country faced the pandemic, RTM continued to be the medium of communication to keep the public informed of key announcements of developments on the COVID-19 situation thus curbing attempts to spread fake news that leave people confused.

“The state government lauds the efforts made by the staff of RTM in delivering all state government information and policies to the people of Melaka which covered all aspects of development such as economy, health, tourism and so forth.”

He said this in his speech in conjunction with RTM’s 75th anniversary celebration and the Launch of MELAKAfm’s new logo at RTM Melaka Auditorium here, which was also attended by Melaka broadcasting director Mohd Yusni Mohammed Ali and his deputy Fitri Al-Ibni Nadzri.

Meanwhile, Sulaiman said the Bicara Ketua Menteri programme aired once a month on Thursday for 30 minutes via MELAKAfm, gave him the opportunity to present the latest and accurate report on the state development and to answer to questions raised by the people through WhatsApp application and Facebook.

He also hoped that RTM Melaka would continue to help the state government in its efforts to promote the tourism sector which is the main contributor to the state’s economy, through news coverage and programmes, more so, after the sector was badly hit due to COVID-19 pandemic.”
