RTM makes history as it celebrates 75th anniversary, 60 years of RTM Orchestra

— Today marks a historic day for the Malaysian Broadcasting Department (RTM) as it celebrates its 75th anniversary and the 60th anniversary of RTM Orchestra.

RTM in a statement today said the department is also set to create four new records in the Malaysia Book of Records, namely, the Longest Running Broadcasting – 75 years; Most Number of Forums Live Simultaneously Through RTM Radio and TV; Most Number of Official Ceremonies Live Simultaneously Through RTM Radio and TV and the Longest Running Orchestra.

The highlight will be the ‘Konsert Kita RTM Gemilang Selamanya’ to be broadcast live in the new norm on April 3 at 9pm at Auditorium Perdana, Angkasapuri.

“This concert to set the momentum to celebrate the double anniversary celebration will feature artistes produced by RTM over the past seven decades,” read the statement.

For the first time too, the RTM 75 Theme Song will be played and it will also see the launch of RTM Sports Channel, which is the first sports channel wholly owned by RTM that will bring local and international sports news via my Freeview Channel 111.

According to the statement, in conjunction with RTM Orchestra 60th anniversary celebration themed ‘Gemilang Selamanya’, the orchestra established since 1961, has come up with a new theme song Teman Setia Anda composed by Raja Sham and lyrics by Zaira.

The Perdana Ehwal Islam Special Forum will also be broadcast live on April 1 at 9.00 pm on TV1.

In line with the 75th anniversary celebration, the special forum themed “Evolution of Da’wah” will be broadcast for 75 minutes simultaneously in 15 locations and 75 production personnel have been tasked with the smooth running of the programme, it added.

RTM has also collaborated with Pos Malaysia to release the 75 Years of RTM set of stamps.

“As the voice between the government and the public through six TV channels and 34 radio stations, RTM with its slogan ‘Teman Setia Anda’ will always move with the times to cater to people of all ages,” it said.
