Fahmi Announces Restoration of Telecommunications Services in Merotai

Merotai: Telecommunications services in Kampung Kuala Merotai have been fully restored following disruptions caused by recent electricity supply issues. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil confirmed the restoration after conducting a personal inspection of the JENDELA Tower in the village. This inspection followed complaints from an elected representative and local residents, which were submitted to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi expressed gratitude in a Facebook post for the resolution of the issue by the service provider and acknowledged the contributions of all parties involved in providing the necessary information. To prevent similar disruptions in the future, service providers have been instructed to implement backup power solutions, such as portable generators, and to enhance battery capacity for up to eight hours of electricity supply.

The JENDELA Tower began operations on September 27, 2024, utilizing the 4-Way Multi-Ope
rator Core Network (MOCN) with services shared by CelcomDigi, Maxis, and U Mobile, and managed by Redtone. Tests using the MCMC Nexus application indicate that the tower provides speeds of around 50Mbps for 4G services, benefiting approximately 1,200 residents.

Fahmi emphasized that this situation underscores the MADANI Government’s commitment to ensuring the public enjoys stable and high-quality telecommunications coverage.
