MBOT signed MoU to strengthen regional cooperation in Cybersecurity

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23 (Bernama) — Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) of the South-East Asia Cybersecurity Consortium (SEA CC) Partnership to strengthen regional cooperation in the field of cybersecurity.

 

MBOT said the MoU was signed to create a formal basis for cooperation and collaboration of talents in the field of cyber security of Southeast Asian countries to participate and benefit from their respective initiatives.

 

Among the areas of cooperation agreed upon under the MoU are training and knowledge-sharing, including members’ professional development, research, collaboration, youth, and community-related activities as well as cybersecurity forum, said MBOT in a statement.

 

 

 

“With the signing of the MoU, talents in cybersecurity, including in Malaysia, have the opportunity to expand the network and mobility opportunities with other Southeast Asian countries,” read the statement.

 

It also said that the collaboration is also expected to provide added value which can be harnessed by the local workforce in terms of knowledge and skills, especially in the field of cybersecurity.

 

MBOT said the MoU was signed in Singapore and witnessed by Josephine Teo, Minister for Communications and Information Singapore, and Minister In-Charge for Smart Nation and Cybersecurity involving Southeast Asian countries, namely Brunei, Singapore, Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.

MBOT was represented by its registrar, Dr Md Fauzi Md Ismail, it said.
