MELAKA, March 5 Mac — The Melaka government plans to promote the state as a Bikers Heaven for motor sports enthusiasts and convoy activities in a move to boost the state’s tourism sector.
State Tourism, Heritage and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Muhammad Jailani Khamis said a site at a proposed Rainbow Village would be set up as Bikers Heaven.
“For the Rainbow Village project, we are trying to get approval from the state government and the location will be announced later,” he said after flagging-off a convoy during the launch of the logo and campaign for Revitalise and Rejuvenate Melaka 2022 at Menara Taming Sari here today.
The programme is part of the effort to boost the state’s tourism industry.
“This will give a new shot of energy and freshness to the Melaka tourism industry to make the state one of the three most popular tourist destinations in Malaysia and the best in the world by focusing on historical, heritage and cultural tourism,” he said.
He said efforts would be made to provide more tourism products inb the vicinity of Menara Taming Sari, including completing the Haunted House and also on plans to build a hanging restaurant.
“We are also planning to build a tourism tunnel here where tourists can get information on the history of the touch on touch screens placed along the tunnel,” he added.
