SHAH ALAM: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has issued a reminder to the public to remain vigilant and informed on flood preparedness strategies as the Northeast Monsoon (MTL) season approaches.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MBSA has emphasized the importance of caution among residents and road users, advising them to take necessary precautions against floods. The council has highlighted the significance of evacuating promptly when instructed by authorities to ensure safety. In their Facebook post, they urged compliance with all evacuation orders directing residents to temporary relief centers.
The Facebook post further detailed essential steps to undertake before, during, and after flood events. The MBSA cautioned against disregarding local authority instructions, underestimating flood risks, interacting with wet electrical devices, and consuming food contaminated by floodwaters.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has also announced that the Northeast Monsoon is expected to commenc
e today and continue until March 2025. The initial monsoon phase, spanning November to December, is anticipated to bring heavy rainfall to Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Johor, Sarawak, and Sabah. Meanwhile, Pahang, Johor, Sarawak, and Sabah are projected to experience substantial rainfall from January to February 2025.
