Police Record Statements from 16 in UPNM Cadet Bullying Case.


KUALA LUMPUR: Police have so far recorded statements from 16 individuals in the investigation of a bullying and abuse case involving a cadet officer at Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia’s (UPNM) Military Training Academy (ALK). Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the iron allegedly used by the suspect was seized yesterday and that they have yet to receive the complete medical report regarding the victim’s injuries.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the investigation is ongoing, and statements have been taken from a range of individuals, including the victim, ALK staff, witnesses to the incident, and medical officers who treated the injuries. The police have also recorded the statement of a suspect believed to be involved in the case of bullying and abuse.

Earlier, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain stated that the investigation began under Section 324 of the Penal Code following the 20-year-old victim’s report filed on Friday. The incident reportedly occurred at 11.45
pm on Oct 22, in the UPNM dormitory. It involved a 22-year-old suspect, a fourth-year student at UPNM, who allegedly asked the victim to iron his work shirt and then pressed the hot iron against the victim’s right chest. Several senior students were present in the room during the incident.
