\nMANILA: The appointment of 98 new prosecutors will ease the heavy workload of the National Prosecution Service leading to the expeditious resolution of cases, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said Monday.<\/p>\n
The newly promoted prosecutors took their oath before Justice Undersecretary Nicholas Felix Ty as part of the Marcos administration’s efforts to overhaul the country’s justice system, the DOJ said in a statement.<\/p>\n
Five of the prosecutors currently hold office at the Office of the Secretary Justice Prosecution Staff while the rest will further strengthen the prosecution offices of Regions 1 to 4, including the National Capital Region.<\/p>\n
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla earlier issued modified rules to ensure better rates of conviction in cases filed before prosecutors by giving them more participation in evidence-gathering.<\/p>\n
