SERI ISKANDAR, Nov 6 (Bernama) — Armed with high commitment and enthusiasm, a student of Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) has established an information technology solution company focusing on Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR).<\/p>\n

Daniel Yusoff Mustaffa, 21, a Chancellor’s Gold Award recipient who has obtained the Dean’s Certificate Award every semester, is now leading the company, DYM IT Solutions, which offers application development services that generated an income of RM30,000 after a year of operation.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cThe year 2019 is the year I would always remember as I won the Gold Medal at the Penang International Invention, Innovation and Design (PIID) for developing the Post-AR application, and another Gold Medal at the International Festival of Innovation of Green Technology (IFINOG) through the Utilising Digital Community Technology System project.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the same year, I also led my team to present our Eco-VR project and won the Bronze Medal at the International Invention, Innovation and Design Exposition (IIDEX), also won third place in Maxis IoT Challenge 2019 and secured Maxis Technology Grant of RM80,000,\u201d he said when met after the 22nd convocation of UTP near here.<\/p>\n

Daniel said he had also developed a virtual test application system for Orifice Meter, Venturi Meter and Pressure Drops in Pipes objects and has been used by the UTP Center for Teaching and Learning (CETaL) in Teaching and Learning during the Movement Control Order (MCO) of COVID-19.<\/p>\n

\u201cI also became a member of the consultancy project for INSTEP in developing the Centrifugal Pump Project application under the guidance of Associate Prof Dr Noreen Izza Arshad in 2020.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn addition, I also developed an application system for the Gopeng Herb Garden to enable the public to visit the garden virtually,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The young man from Kajang, Selangor said that juggling time as a student and a young entrepreneur was not easy but one needed to be brave to take risks in order to realise their dreams.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cI admit that it is not easy to focus on two things at the same time, but what is important is time management between studying and doing business because if we are smart everything will be easy.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cI always remember my late mother’s advice to continue to excel in academics, besides my sister who is also a source of inspiration for success,” he said.<\/p>\n

At the convocation ceremony, UTP Chancellor Tan Sri Dr Mohd Hassan Marican also presented the Chancellor’s Silver Award to Wong Lin Yong, a graduate of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and the Chancellor\u2019s Bronze Award to Nurziaty Nordin, a graduate of Information Systems.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Chemical engineering graduate Dr Mohamad Fakhrul Ridhwan Samsudin won the Best Researcher Alumni Award at the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) level and Farnaz Namaziyan from Iran, a petroleum engineering graduate, won the Best International Student Award.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
A total of 1,438 graduates received PhD, Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in various majors at the convocation ceremony.<\/p>\n
