MALAYSIA: CHINESE TOURIST AMONG TWO KILLED AFTER VEHICLE PLUNGES OFF CAR PARK

KUANTAN, Pahang state, Malaysia — A Chinese tourist was among two people who died after the Perodua Axia they were travelling in plunged off the fourth floor of a hotel car park in Genting Highlands resort early Thursday.

In the 4.15am incident, Muy San Mao, 43, and driver L. Poolani Samy, 50, from Sepang, Selangor state died at the scene due to serious head injuries.

Bentong district police chief Supt Mohamad Mansor Mohd Nor said the vehicle was believed to be making its way down the multi-storey car park during the mishap.

The driver was believed to have lost control of the car as it approached a right-turning spot before crashing into an iron barrier. Subsequently, the vehicle plunged 13-metre down and turned turtle, he said when contacted by reporters here yesterday.

“Initial investigations revealed that the accident occurred due to the driver’s negligence,” he said adding that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The bodies were taken to the Bentong Hospital for post mortem.
