Ministry Collaborates With MITI To Develop Local Entrepreneurs

KUCHING: Minister of International Trade and E-Commerce Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh yesterday visited Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) Sarawak branch office to have a better understanding about MITI’s role and responsibilities.

Accompanying him was Assistant Minister of E-Commerce and Assistant Minsiter of Entrepreneur and Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Development Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais.

Wong said the visit was to see ways how MITI and his ministry could work together to ensure the competitiveness of local entrepreneurs both in domestic and global markets.

The visit, among other things,is to see ways we can develop and promote entrepreneurs to trade locally and internationally and how we can continously work together, Wong, who is also Second Finance Minister said after a meeting with MITI officials.

Meanwhile, Naroden suggested that MITI have a combined portal with Ministry of International Trade and E-Commerce, to enable the public to have a single portal for informations about the roles and responsibilities of the two ministries.

There are nine agencies under MITI, namely; Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Malaysian Productivity Centre (MPC), Malaysian Industrial Development Finance (MIDF), Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade), Halal Industry Development (HDC) SME Bank, SME Corp, Malaysia Automotive Institute and Malaysia Steel Institute.
