UMK optimises industry players to harness role as entrepreneurship university

KOTA BHARU, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) will optimise its cooperation with industry players, including 400 registered companies set up by its alumni, with industry players to harness its role as an entrepreneurship institute.

Its vice-chancellor, Prof Noor Azizi Ismail said the university would optimise the cooperation that had been forged with the companies concerned, some of them since the university’s establishment 12 years ago, to enhance the entrepreneurship skills of UMK students.

They (companies) also serve as advisers to lecturers, he told reporters at a programme with the media here last night.

It was attended by about 50 media practitioners in Kelantan, including Kelantan Darul Naim Media Club (KEMUDI) president Mohd Azran Fitri Abdul Rahim and the state bureau chiefs of all media organisations.

Noor Azizi saud UMK, in its effort to become a renowned university in Asia, had sealed agreement for cooperation with several foreign universities, including 10 in Indonesia.

He said the collaboration would benefit UMK in terms of enabling it to market its products, as well as share research work.

“UMK has also been invited to participate in an innovation exhibition in Beijing, China, to be held end of the month. We will showcase 12 of our latest innovations, he added.

He said he is optimistic that UMK would be on par with other universities, having known as one of world best entrepreneurship universities only within 10 months of its establishment.
