Kedah police receive 59 new Proton Persona cars

ALOR SETAR, The Kedah Police Contingent Headquarters (PCH) today received 59 Proton Persona cars from vehicle fleet management service provider, SPANCO Sdn Bhd (SPANCO), to help in the duties of the police.

Kedah police chief, Datuk Zainuddin Yaacob said that the PCH had received 46 vehicles today, while the balance 13 would be delivered later, and would be handed over for the use of at the PCH and district police headquarters (DPH).

The Proton Persona received by the Kedah PCH are to replace the Proton Preve cars prior to this which have completed five years of usage.

”With this replacement, the government can save on costs amounting to RM1.47 million in Kedah alone, but the change in type of vehicle will not adversely affect the service and duty of the police in the state,” he said after a ceremony to receive the Proton Persona cars from SPANCO here today.

He added, the use of the new vehicles would help and impact positively on the productivity of the officers and rank-and-file especially in giving the best service to the society in the state.

Prior to this, there were issues of delay in delivering services to the communities due to the cars used by the police breaking down, but it is hoped that this issue will not crop up again. The new cars can also reduce waiting time and increase the good image of the force, he added.
