St George continental aim for stages win in LTdL 2020

KUALA LUMPUR, The Australian Continental Team, St George put high hopes on aiming for stage honours at the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2020.

The continental team managed by Brett Dutton would be looking at their young rider Blake Quick to shine at the 25th edition race.

Besides Quick, St George lined up are Michael Vink, Connor Reardon and Matthew Zenovich, to provide the spark once again, along with young sprinters, James Harvey and Jay Dutton.

According to a statement by the organiser, Quick was reported to be in perfect condition with creditable early-season achievement in the recent New Zealand Classics which saw him wresting the second spot while Harvey and Dutton would be relied upon as the team’s lead-out men to pull Quick to the front of the bunch.

Spearheading the general classification challenge were two experienced climbers, Vink and a three-term rider with St George, Zenovich, who would be taking over Timothy Cameron’s role this time around.

Zenovich would be looking to improve on Cameron’s 21st overall outcome and the 19th spot in the queen stage in Genting Highlands last year.

The eight-stage of LTdL2020 is scheduled for Feb 7 to 14, covering a total distance of 1,145.9 km across nine states which include Sarawak, Terengganu, Pahang, Federal Territories (Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur) Selangor, Perak, Penang and Kedah.

In conjunction with the race’s 25th silver jubilee celebration, two one-day side races will also be held the Malaysian International Criterium race in Kota Kinabalu on Feb 6 (over 90km) and the 159km round-island Malaysian International Classics race in Langkawi on Feb 15.
